Legal Methods of Take:

  • Shotgun (Shot size 2 to 7 1/2 only. Slugs are illegal.)
  • Archery ( Arrows must have a sharpened hunting head, with a blade of at least 7/16-inch radius and total cutting edge of at least 3 inches, or a blunt (bludgeon) head, with a diameter of at least 9/16-inch)
  • Crossbows and drawlocking devices are permitted only for those unable to draw a longbow due to a physical impairment. A free authorization issued by the Commission is required and will be issued after receiving written verification of the disability from an individual's physician.

Shooting Hours: 30 minutes before sunrise to sunset

Must own or lease 80 acres or more of farm or ranch land for agricultural purposes

Must own 320 acres or more to be eligible
Permit is restricted to the land owned/leased and listed on the permit
Spouse and children living in the same household are eligible

Minimum Age:
There is no minimum age to hunt turkeys in Nebraska. Hunters under the age of 12, when hunting with a shotgun permit, must be accompanied by a person age 19 or older who has a valid Nebraska hunting permit.
